A federal court recently struck down Biden’s immigration initiative, delivering a major blow to undocumented spouses and stepchildren of U.S. citizens.
In June, the Biden administration introduced the Keeping Families Together program, which allowed qualifying spouses and stepchildren to remain in the U.S. temporarily through a process called “parole in place.” This permitted them to apply for permanent residency without needing to leave the country.
Last week, a federal court in Texas struck down the program, determining that the Biden Administration exceeded its executive authority in establishing it, thereby making the program unlawful.
As a result, USCIS will no longer be reviewing any pending applications or granting benefits under the program.
While it’s uncertain whether the Biden administration will appeal the ruling, I’ll be monitoring the developments closely.
