My career today as an immigration lawyer and running my own law firm surprisingly came from a missed opportunity…
During law school, I was offered a dream internship at the Department of Justice, but a U.S. residency requirement unexpectedly disqualified me from moving forward.
Scrambling to find a summer position, I reached out to the Washington, D.C. office of Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy LLP, the nation’s largest business immigration law firm. That last-minute pivot turned out to be an extraordinary opportunity thanks to my incredible mentors: Daniel Williamson and Anya Krivtsun.
This summer internship grew into a career I love. After working at two amazing firms, including David Hirson & Partners, where I had the privilege of learning from David Hirson and working with talented lawyers like Evelyn Moon and Megan Guzman—I took the leap to start my own practice.
That decision has allowed me to build the kind of law firm I envisioned and be the kind of parent I want to be for my three kids.
This Thanksgiving, I feel grateful that I get to wake up each morning excited to get to work. Immigration law combines everything I love: solving complex challenges, connecting with people, and helping clients achieve their American dream.
To my mentors, colleagues, and clients—thank you for being part of my journey.
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
