Noncitizens in the U.S. are now required to register with the federal government if they remain
in the country for more than 30 days and carry proof of registration at all times.
📌 Who is required to register? Noncitizens who are not already considered registered, including: • Individuals who entered the U.S. without a visa or inspection • Canadians who entered at land borders without receiving a Form I-94 • Children who turn 14 while in the U.S.
📌 Who is likely already registered? • Lawful permanent residents • Individuals with valid visas, work permits, or pending immigration applications • Those previously placed in removal proceedings
📌 What if you are here without status? Registration does not confer legal status and may trigger removal proceedings. If you are here without status, you should consult with a qualified immigration attorney before registering.
