Officially a Certified Specialist in Immigration Law

I’ve been certified as a specialist in immigration law.
But at one point, I thought I’d blown it.
The exam was a full-day test administered remotely under strict webcam monitoring.
Midway through, my 6-year-old walked into the room (despite my best efforts and my husband on watch duty).
I immediately emailed the examiners, explained what happened, and hoped for the best. Thankfully, they reviewed everything and let me know I passed.
But the test was only the beginning.
The next part was meeting the experience requirement.
To qualify, I had to take on additional immigration court cases, which fall outside my usual practice and pushed me out of my comfort zone.
I took them on knowing it was worth it to deepen my expertise and better serve my clients.
I don’t usually lean into the “proud to share” kind of post but this time, I do feel proud putting in the work to make professional development a priority while raising three kids and running my own law firm.
This one means a lot.
