Important immigration update: State Department has resumed interviews for student visa applicants.

❖ Embassies are prioritizing J-1 medical exchanges and students at U.S. schools with fewer than 15% international enrollment

❖ All applicants must disclose social media usernames used in the past 5 years (no passwords required)

❖ Public posts may be reviewed for perceived hostility toward U.S. culture, institutions, or government

❖ Applicants will be instructed to adjust privacy settings on their social media profiles to “public” for vetting purposes

Delays are still possible due to high demand and added screening.

If your company sponsors J-1 visa holders, I recommend staying flexible and consulting with your immigration counsel to plan ahead.
